We have a real one.
I know not all Suns fans reside in the Valley and therefore not all of you truly understood just what Monty Williams was referencing when he offered his prayers, thoughts and condolences.
This will touch a little on that but due to the understandable sensitivity, that part will be limited. However, readers and viewers need to know the gist of it.
It was such a scary situation: A shooting spree took place across the West Valley on Thursday that left one person dead, a dozen hurt, and a whole lot of people scared.
I won’t go into further details as I know there may be those involved or their loved ones in the audience. What I want to focus on is how our favorite team’s head coach, unprompted, spoke on it.
There is nothing but respect in me for this man. He’s been through a lot, yet he asks for no sympathy. Rather, he is always extending a hand to his players and all that come across his path.
It’s not just about his halftime speeches as we know he delivers there, nor about making sure his team is ready to go out and give it their all and inch towards that ultimate goal as we are watching them do.
What is the definition of a great coach in one word?
The ones that instantly come to my mind are positive, focused, knowledgeable, observant, respectful, patient and supportive.
Coach Monty has all of those traits.
We have a real one and this video is just further evidence of that.
“I just want those families to know that the Suns are praying for them, our thoughts are with them and if we can do anything to be of benefit to them, we’ll do what we can.”

Along with Monty, let’s offer our prayers, thoughts, and condolences to all those involved and their loved ones not just in this time or any other. Let’s stand together. One Valley.
