He’s headed to the Orlando Magic.

After making it to the NBA Finals, the Phoenix Suns have decided to mostly keep the roster together. Other than a few exceptions, the team looks about the same.

Before yesterday, the only departing players were Jevon Carter, Torrey Craig and Ty-Shon Alexander.

Now, add E’Twaun Moore to the list as he’s heading to the Orlando Magic.

In doing so, he will be returning to a former team as he played there during the 2012-13 and 2013-14 seasons, the second and third years of his career.

It was pretty much a lock for him to move on when the Suns signed Elfrid Payton. They had been playing E’Twaun mostly out of position as a playmaker when he was on the court and Elf fits that role better.

Before coming to Phoenix, Moore was with the New Orleans Pelicans for four seasons, where he shot 40.4% from three-point land and averaged 10.7 points per game.

On November 30, 2020, he decided to come be a veteran for a young team trying to surprise the league. He was a welcome depth addition but it must have been asking a bit much for him as he knew he didn’t have a consistent part in the rotation.

E’Twaun only played in 27 games for the Suns, logging 14.4 minutes per night. He had 45-31-85 shooting splits, made 11 three-pointers and averaged 4.9 points, 1.7 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 0.6 steals per game. In the playoffs, he played a total of 46 minutes over seven games, scoring a total of 17 points.

After averaging over 8.3 points per game the season prior for the Pelicans, he only reached or passed the 10-point mark four times with Phoenix. They were 4-0 in those games, to his credit.

His top appearance in the Valley was in the final match of the season against the San Antonio Spurs, where he was 9-for-10 from the field, made two treys and scored 22 points including the game-winning triple with 2.2 seconds to go.

The 32-year-old will be a savvy, knowledgeable vet for a young squad in Orlando.

Thank you, E’Twaun! Good luck!
