Jae Crowder the main bright spot in Phoenix Suns’ Game 3 loss to Mavs

May 7, 2022 by ArizonaSports.com - 98.7 FM

Game 3 of the Western Conference semifinals was a rough one for the Phoenix Suns on Friday night.

In a 103-94 loss to the Dallas Mavericks at American Airlines Center, Jae Crowder was the main bright spot for the Suns.

The forward finished the night as the team’s leading scorer with 19 points on 7-of-12 shooting (58.3%) from the field and an astounding 5-for-8 from three (62.5%).

Crowder also added seven rebounds, five assists and two steals in 36 minutes played.

Phoenix had a decent shooting night as a team with a 44.7% clip from the field (34-for-76), 46.4% from three (12-for-28) and 86.7% from the free throw line.

That marks the first time this postseason that the Suns didn’t shoot at least 50% from the field.

But it was the turnovers that plagued the Suns on the night, as Phoenix turned the ball over a whopping 17 times compared to Dallas’ seven.

And even more oddly enough, seven of those came from the birthday boy Chris Paul — all of which came in the first half.

That led to the Mavericks being able to put up 14 more shot attempts than the Suns while shooting 44.4% from the field (40-for-90) and 33.3% from three (13-of-39).

With a 2-1 series lead, the Suns will tip off against the Mavs in Game 4 on Sunday at 12:30 p.m.
