We’ll miss you, Bulldog!
Well, the news yesterday that backup guard Jevon Carter was traded from the Phoenix Suns to the Brooklyn Nets hit me pretty darn hard. I mean I’m still recovering from the Finals heartbreak and then I see one of my favorite players was traded.
I followed him since his West Virginia days and you can ask my friends, I talked about him probably too much.
It wasn’t easy telling my little boys. I mean they would use him more than Chris Paul sometimes when they played 2K.
Jevon, if you see this, I just want to thank you for everything. When you think of the culture switch this team made, you’re the embodiment of it. Your stats never stood out but your intensity, drive, defense, hustle and support for your teammates was second to none.
Let’s not lose sight of the tremendous impact Jevon Carter had in turning around the Suns’ culture and in contributing to that Bubble run, btw. Really taught me a lot about #TreadmillMentality, wish him nothing but the best moving forward.

I’ll definitely miss you. As loyal as I am to the Suns and as much as it is a team game, I feel that giving you spot minutes on Jrue Holiday during the Finals could have changed who won the championship. Also, I won’t forget that you spoke that thrilling run into existence before the start of last season.
Seriously, the way you just hound opposing guards for 94 feet is simply inspiring.

As Mike said, it wasn’t even your man, which I’m sure you’ll disagree with because any opponent was your man. That’s just the way you played the game.
You never quit. On any play. No matter the score or how much time was left. And you constantly worked on your game.
I’m glad you are going somewhere it appears you may have more of a chance to play. Brooklyn showed with Bruce Brown how they feel about defensive guards.
Jevon Carter deserves a role, happy for him and love the fit in Brooklyn.

I like Landry Shamet and I get the fit behind Booker and shot creation. This is no knock on Landry as I’m happy to have him on board. But like the Finals loss, this will sting for a while.

For Nets fans who are unfamiliar with Jevon Carter, he’s a dog. Great on defense and will quickly become a fan favorite even though he probably won’t see a ton of rotation time.

Joe knows you could easily find yourself minutes in the rotation with the way you play, too.
Yes, this is a business and my heart will go on but I felt like I needed to take a moment to thank the Bulldog for everything you did for this franchise.
