NBA Insider Jake Fischer reports the Slim Reaper staying in Phoenix remains a possibility.
Don’t be surprised if Kevin Durant is a Phoenix Sun next season. Despite numerous reports since the Valley shopped him at the trade deadline, NBA Insider Jake Fischer reported today that the Slim Reaper staying in Arizona “has not been fully ruled out.”

Durant, 36, will be entering the final year of his four-year deal he signed with the Brooklyn Nets back in 2021 before he was traded to the Phoenix Suns in 2023. He’s eligible to sign a two-year deal that keeps him under contract until the 2027-2028 season, where he will be 39 by the end, but his future in Phoenix has been in question for the past three-plus months.
In his 17th season, Durant averaged 26.6 points, 6 rebounds, and 4.2 assists on 52.7% from the field and 43% from deep. He was selected to his 15th and 5th consecutive All-Star Game and has a chance to make his 12th All-NBA team. Despite going 36-46 for the year, the Suns went 33-29 in the 62 games he played in.
