He remains with Phoenix. For now.
If you were hoping that Phoenix Suns associate head coach was going to further his career by taking the reins in Brooklyn, you’ll be disappointed. Young has been rumored to be a finalist for a job with the Nets, but it appears they are going a different direction.

Jordi Fernandez interviewed with Phoenix last summer as the Suns were amidst their head coach search and, along with Young, is considered one of the new bright minds in the NBA. The Kings’ top assistant beat KY out in Brooklyn, but that does not mean that is the end of head coaching possibilities for the coach.
The Charlotte Hornets are moving off of Steve Clifford as he prepares to take an advisory role with the organization, although their coaching search is already underway. Coaching opportunities could become available in Washington, as well as with other organizations looking to reset and rebuild their staffs.
As for now, Kevin Young can focus his efforts on guiding the Suns through the playoffs, which begin on Saturday against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
