The Phoenix Suns draft picks are now locked in. What will they do with them?
Oh, what are we going to do with our Suns? Not in the lottery. Not in the play-in or playoffs.
The Phoenix Suns are one of a kind. They are the only team not participating in one of those things. Let that sink in.

Phoenix dealt its 2031 unprotected first-rounder to the Utah Jazz for three first-rounders in January to “unlock” its next six drafts.
The Suns acquired the least favorable first-round pick in 2025 of the Cleveland Cavaliers, the Minnesota Timberwolves, or the Jazz (protected); in 2027 of Cleveland, Minnesota or Utah; and in 2029 of Cleveland, Minnesota (protected) or Utah.
This year, the 2025 pick mentioned above ends up being Cleveland’s, the least favorable of the trio of teams after they finished with the second-best record in the NBA.
Phoenix selected Ryan Dunn as the 28th pick and Oso Ighodaro as the 40th pick in last year’s draft.

They entered the draft with just the 22nd overall pick and ended up with a pair of selections after trading down initially for Dunn and then up for Oso. They also added two-way wing Jalen Bridges after the draft. Not a bad end result given their situation.
2025 Outlook
Tankathon’s latest mock draft has them selecting guard Kam Jones with the 29th pick, and forward Dink Pate at 52.
There are several names we will get to as workouts and agents leak info, but for now, we wait. Walter Clayton Jr., anyone? Or should they focus on adding size and athleticism? There are plenty of questions to get into.
Where is Phoenix’s original pick, you ask? Houston won the tiebreaker over Portland and is in the 9th slot currently. And of course, the only way the Suns “win” a tie-breaker is when they don’t own the rights to that pick. Classic Suns.
This now gives Houston a 17.3% chance of moving into the top 3 and a 3.8% chance of winning the lottery and getting to pick Cooper Flagg. That is a nightmare scenario we hope to avoid, or it will be a hellish amount of salt on a fresh wound. Anyways.
We broke down a few players who could be a fit in Phoenix in March.
