Phoenix Suns’ Devin Booker masters ‘The Luka Special’ vs. Mavs

May 11, 2022 by ArizonaSports.com - 98.7 FM

Phoenix Suns guard Devin Booker was hit hard on a layup attempt by Dallas Mavericks forward Dorian Finney-Smith on Tuesday night.

Booker laid on the floor, face down for several seconds while his teammates came over to see if he was okay. A foul was called.

He peaked over his shoulder with a smile on his face. As he got up, the All-Star laughed and said, “The Luka special.”

It was a dig at Mavericks guard Luka Doncic and his ability to get fouls calls by selling contact, especially after Booker popped right back up after getting hit in the head earlier in the series.

Finney-Smith was called for a Flagrant 1 after coming down hard on Booker’s left arm and making body contact as the Suns’ guard was in the air.

The play occurred during a 17-0 run by Phoenix to create separation from Dallas that lasted through the end of the game.

Booker had seven points during the run.

Phoenix extended their lead and won the game 110-80 to take a 3-2 series lead in the Western Conference semifinals.

Game 6 from Dallas is set for Thursday night at 6:30 p.m.
