Phoenix is not done making moves…
Roster spots. The Phoenix Suns don’t have many left. In fact, as of now, they’re down to just one open slot.
Why? Because Koby Brea, whom the Suns expertly maneuvered up to select with the 41st overall pick, is set to sign a two-way contract with the team, per HoopsHype.
The Phoenix Suns and No. 41 pick Koby Brea have agreed to a two-way deal, league sources told @hoopshype. Brea averaged 11.6 points and shot 43.5 percent from 3-point range for Kentucky last season. pic.twitter.com/Y2Rh6kL8sj

This was a question we’d been asking since the NBA Draft. Would the Suns use a two-way contract on Koby Brea? Now we have the answer. And with that, the Suns officially sit at 14 standard contracts, not 15, leaving one open roster spot heading into the next phase of the offseason.
That one spot matters.
It gives the Suns a chance to add another player, potentially a point guard, considering Collin Gillespie is currently the only true floor general on the roster.
And once the Bradley Beal buyout becomes official, Phoenix will have not just one, but two open roster spots. More importantly, they’ll also have the financial flexibility to fill them. The Suns will be back in the trade game. They’ll be able to aggregate salaries again. They’ll have access to the full $14.1 million mid-level exception.
So yes, Brea’s two-way deal is significant. Because it signals something broader: the Suns’ roster isn’t set. Not yet. The real maneuvering might still be ahead.
Brea, along with Khaman Maluach and Rasheer Fleming, will be introduced today.
