The fan base is torn on how to fix the franchise.
Wassup brah? How stoked are you for this Phoenix Suns offseason? Totally amped? Or are you bailing, bro-migo?
One thing is clear as we prepare for a bitchin’ offseason: none of us know what the Suns should do to fix their un-tubular situation. The front office is acting like a bunch of Barney’s. They’re selling off picks before they even have them, doublin’ and triplin’ down on their situation of mortgaging the future.
In a recent survey, we asked what the Suns should do. The results are more split than some killer breaks off of Jeffreys Bay.
What does this mean? It looks like we need to snag our favorite board from our quivers, pop up on its deck (don’t want to be a dick dragger, brah), try to hang ten, and hope that the waves don’t crease or ding your ride. Looks like Phoenix does have that oceanfront property George Strait twanged about back in ‘86. Because we’ll be riding the Suns’ waves until we’re too seasick to handle our grub.
Okay, I’m done with the surf talk. Although a bad day surfing is better than a good day working I’m told. Cowabunga.
Firing Frank Vogel was the top choice amongst the fan base in our survey, but even that was less than a third of the responses. It shows that we are torn on solutions. Perhaps that is where the leadership is as well, and that is why they are choosing to stand fast.
“The narrative that the house is burning is incorrect,” Ishbia said during Wednesday’s post-postseason press conference. “The Phoenix Suns are doing great. Excellent. Not as good as we want to be. Not as good as we’re going to do next year. And that’s what we’re going to figure out — what we’ve got to tweak, modify, and adjust to win a championship next year.”
Tweaking and modifying is not resetting and restructuring. It is the most stable approach but we know not if it is the right one. What is going to magically change about this team next season?
Chemistry will be better, simply by default. This was an issue, but I wouldn’t rank it in the top five reasons they got swept out of the playoffs. I’d start with their night-to-night willingness to fight, intensity (or lack thereof), poor offensive game planning, inability to avoid turnovers, and fourth-quarter blow-ups.
We all have ideas on how to right the wrongs, and this offseason we will see waves cresting and crashing as the Suns navigate the rough waters on Second Apron Bay. Take some Dramamine and enjoy the ride, I guess.
