Fans overwhelmingly believe that injuries impacted who made the Finals
Welcome to SB Nation Reacts, a survey of fans across the NBA. Each week, we send out questions to the most plugged-in Phoenix Suns fans and fans across the country. Sign up here to join Reacts.
You’d think that the fourth quarter collapse by the Phoenix Suns in Game 4 of the NBA Finals would shift the national perspective on who will win the series. It stands to reason that, following two consecutive losses on the road in the Finals, Phoenix would be less favored than prior to the start of the series. While the latter is true, it’s not by much.
In an SB Nation Reacts survey before the Finals commenced, 70% of fans believed that the Suns would bring home the title. Now four games into the series, that metric has dropped by a mere 6%.
Yes, plenty of Suns’ fans are currently shook. Seeing the team lose their poise and miss a chance to go up 3-1 in the series will do that to a fanbase. But when you take a step back and look at the overall landscape of the series, with Phoenix possessing home court advantage, there are still plenty of reasons to be confident. From Booker’s bounce-back to knowing that Chris Paul is capable of playing much better, the Suns are in a good spot.
DraftKings currently has the Phoenix Suns -145 favorites for the series. So again, the odds are currently in favor of Phoenix. So when you go down to the newly minted Footprint Center — gonna take a while to get used to that one — get loud, get supportive, and help this team win.
