Second round interviews are complete.
As May winds down, the Phoenix Suns find themselves in a unique position, alone at the crossroads. They’re the only team in the NBA with a head coaching vacancy, and while that may sound like a disadvantage, it offers a rare kind of freedom. With no other franchises in the hunt, the Suns can take their time. No rush. No competition. Just clarity.
For General Manager James Jones and Vice President of Basketball Strategy Brian Gregory, that means a thoughtful, deliberate process. One not just focused on résumés or reputations, but identity. Fit. Vision. Who can help shape the next era of Suns basketball?
According to Arizona Sports insider John Gambadoro, the first round of Zoom interviews — nine total candidates — is complete. The list is narrowing. The second round has wrapped. And soon, the finalists will board flights to Phoenix for their in-person meetings.
