Suns destroy Wizards 134-106

NBA: Washington Wizards at Phoenix Suns

Suns break out the offense we know in the second half to take the win over the Wizards.

Without Bradley Beal, the Washington Wizards tried to make it three wins in a row against the Phoenix Suns.

A slow start for the Suns kept the game close until the second half of the game. The Suns were ghosts on defense but tightened things up and looked like the Suns we know to take the win 134-106.

Good defense led to better offense for the Suns, especially in a third quarter they outscored the Wizards 44-24.

Devin Booker led the Suns with 27 points and Deandre Ayton was very good again with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Both were great in the third, and neither of them played in the fourth quarter.

Game flow

The shots that were not falling Thursday night against the Los Angeles Clippers started to fall for suns right from tip-off.

A quick 10-2 run to start the game, had the Wizards calling a timeout.

After the timeout, the Wizards were able to come in and put together a 8-0 run to tie the game. You started to see signs of life from Alex Len in the paint and the defense down low for the Suns was not tight.

Starting the game 0-6 from three, it looked like the Suns learned their lesson and started to get to the rim and get into their mid-range game and to the rim.

The first timeout by the Suns has them down 17-14. The Wizards were on a 15-4 run and adjustments needed to be made.

It was good to see Dario Saric make his first lay-in off the bench but the Suns were having major issues on the glass with the big men from the Wizards, but Saric was able to start the game 2-2 in the paint.

The end the first quarter, the bench for the Suns behind Saric were able to keep the game close, but still trailing 29-27. The Wizards were able to outscore the Suns in the paint 20-14.

To begin the second quarter, Suns fans were blessed by the presence of The Ringers- Kevin O’Conner.

Having @KevinOConnorNBA on the broadcast…fantastic.

… but the Wizards were still able to get to the rim at will taking their lead even further into the second quarter: 37-34

Cameron Johnson starts the game solid hitting all three of his shots from the field including a dunk on transition and three.

Getting inside is still too easy, as said earlier. Wizards big are in the paint without a body on them. It was no interest to Deandre Ayton to try on defense or offense.

… then a solid rebound and dunk by Ayton.

A timeout called and the Suns are up 46-42.

Robin Lopez, who put up some good numbers in last nights game against the Golden State Warriors, is a great replacement for Len. The hook shot is going in for Lopez and Raul Neto already has 13 points with the Wizards up 49-48.

Devin Booker… what a pass.

Mikal Bridges took the responsibility to help with Neto, hoping to slow down the little dude. (little for a basketball player)

Jae Crowder finishes out the half with a three to give the Suns a 57-55 lead at the break.

Bridges attacked the rim to start the second half with two lay-ins to push the Suns lead to seven. More energy from the Suns coming out of the locker room.

In a blink of an eye the Suns were up 16 points, 75-59. The shots were falling, the plays at the rim were being made on both ends of the floor, and the defense picked up a lot of juice.

The Suns were feeling it from three in the third, everything that was going up was going in.

Not once, but twice for Booker with brilliant long court bounce passes.

The game looked to be in good hands heading into the fourth quarter, as the Suns starters took care of business and did what they had to do to put the game away.

Booker was just amazing in the limited minutes this game. He was feeling it, and it probably had something to do with this:

Ok. So there is a lot you could talk about in the video but the thing I’m most interested in is the fact that this pop a shot machine looks like it’s either taking up a very big closet or a very small room and sticking out the door. pic.twitter.com/u9Wyg6Milj

Up 22 points going into the fourth quarter, it was up to the bench to finish the job.

And that they did, after Paul and Bridges left the game, the bench was able to remain playing the game the Suns started.

A blow-out win for the Suns now puts the suns at 37-15 on the year.
