Suns’ Devin Booker named Western Conference Player of the Month

March 3, 2021 by ArizonaSports.com - 98.7 FM Leave a Comment

Phoenix Suns guard Devin Booker’s red-hot shooting last month has netted him another league-wide accolade.

Booker capped off his memorable February by winning the NBA’s Western Conference Player of the Month award after averaging 27.9 points and 4.5 assists per game.

The sixth-year shooting guard rebounded nicely from a slow start by his standards, upping his points per game average from 20.2 in December to 24.3 in January and another leap over the past four weeks.

Booker also saw his field goal percentage rise by more than four percentage points, from 46.9% in January to 52.3% in February.

He scored at least 20 points in 14 of the Suns’ 15 games in February — dropping a season-high 43 points in a 118-99 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves on Sunday.

Booker’s red-hot February helped him find his way onto the Western Conference All-Star team after initially being snubbed. He replaced injured Lakers forward Anthony Davis.

Booker’s success also netted him the NBA Western Conference Player of the Week award for Feb. 22-28 after he averaged 33.0 points per game with a total plus/minus of +52.

Booker and the Suns wrap up their pre-All-Star Game schedule by hosting the Golden State Warriors on Thursday.

From there, Booker will jetset his way to Atlanta to play in the NBA All-Star Game on Sunday.
