Jake Fischer reports the Suns are interested in a pair of big men.
The Kevin Durant saga has hijacked the NBA news cycle for two straight weeks, and at this point, I just want the damn deal to drop. Refresh fatigue has set in. My fingers are tired. My soul is tired.
Every day brings another flood of pseudo-scoops from accounts with anime avatars and usernames like “dbookownsyou,” suddenly moonlighting as NBA insiders because someone in their group chat knows a guy who once parked cars at PHX Arena.
It’s getting wacky out here. Like, full-blown-tin-foil-hat territory. We’ve reached the point where supposed league sources are “reaching out” to fan-run Devin Booker accounts to pass along what they’re “hearing.” Give me a break.
The wires are hot, yes, but they’re also melting with bullshit. And the longer this stretches, the louder the noise gets. I’m not sure what’s real anymore. I just know I’m ready for the chaos to coalesce into clarity. Push the button, Phoenix. Make the move. Set us free.
A source has informed me that we should keep our eyes on the Sacramento Kings during the Durant trade negotiations.

All of this hoopla — the trade winds, the fake insiders, the endless timeline churn — is starting to overshadow something kind of important: the NBA Draft.
Yeah, remember that? It’s still happening. June 25. And as of now, the Phoenix Suns are slated to pick at 29 and 52. For now, anyway. With the KD trade still sitting in the chamber, who knows where those picks actually land once the dust settles.
But here’s a nugget that cut through the noise like a bass drop in a quiet room: according to Marc Stein’s always-reliable Substack, the Suns are eyeing a pair of floor-spacing bigs in the draft. Music to my ears.
“I was told that Creighton’s 7-footer Ryan Kalkbrenner, to name one example, recently worked out for the Suns and is very much in consideration with that No. 29 pick. The same goes for Stanford’s Maxime Raynaud.”

After watching Phoenix try to piece together rim protection and spacing with duct tape and wishful thinking, the idea of bringing in young, modern bigs who can stretch the floor is exactly the kind of subtle, smart move this franchise has lacked in the margins. Draft night might feel like a footnote now, but don’t be surprised if it turns into the first line of a new chapter.
Sure, I doubt they’ll be instant-impact players. This isn’t a draft overflowing with sure things, and Phoenix isn’t exactly a developmental playground. But if the Suns can snag Ryan Kalkbrenner or Maxime Raynaud at 29, they’d be making a smart, strategic play for long-term stability.
Both have the kind of upside you want in a late first-round pick. Guys who won’t light up the scoreboard but can grow into reliable rotational bigs who do the dirty work, space the floor, and don’t get played off the court in a playoff series. That’s gold for a team like this.
And make no mistake, despite all the Durant noise and the front-office smokescreens, finding a serviceable big is very much on the Suns’ radar. Brian Gregory and Jordan Ott know what this roster lacks. They know what broke down last season. Beneath all the chaos, the rumors, and the click-chasing, there’s a steady hum of logic: Phoenix needs frontcourt help, and they might just find it with pick 29. Drafting a backup big isn’t just reasonable, it’s necessary.
T-minus 9 days until the draft, and the pressure is starting to feel less like anticipation and more like a slow-drip madness. Every day that the KD trade doesn’t happen is another day trapped in the purgatory of vague tweets, fake sources, and YouTube trade proposals narrated by dudes in hoodies.
I’m holding out hope the trigger gets pulled soon. Not just for clarity’s sake, but for sanity. There’s only so much of this I can take before I start believing in burner accounts and deciphering Shams tweets like they’re ancient prophecy. Get it done, Phoenix. We’ve got picks to make and peace of mind to reclaim.
