They’re good. But can the Suns get better by moving one of both of them? And will they?
Welcome to SB Nation Reacts, a survey of fans across the NBA. Throughout the year we ask questions of the most plugged-in Phoenix Suns fans and fans across the country. Sign up here to participate in the weekly emailed surveys.
Over the past few days, we’ve been peeling back the layers of the Phoenix Suns’ roster, specifically the fringes. The players making $10 million or more, brought in to make a difference, but whose actual value might not align with the price tag. Or maybe it does. Beauty, after all, is in the eye of the guy signing the checks.
Grayson Allen and Royce O’Neale are both reliable, floor-spacing wings. Each brings above-average three-point shooting, a skill that keeps them relevant in today’s NBA. But just because they can contribute doesn’t mean they’re the right fit here. Are they duplicative? Can you find something else out there that better meets your roster construction needs?
Phoenix has needs. Real ones. They were one of 10 teams in the NBA to not sniff the postseason. Defensive versatility, youth, athleticism, shot creation. Allen and O’Neale may be valuable pieces, but could they be more valuable as trade assets used to address what the Suns truly lack?
That’s the conversation. That’s the debate.
So now it’s your turn. Should the Suns explore trades involving Grayson Allen, Royce O’Neale, or both? Is there a team out there — and a potential return — that would make it worth pulling the trigger?
