The Bob Myers rumor says more about the Suns than it does about Bob Myers.
As the Phoenix Suns look to manifest the bold, restless vision of Mat Ishbia, one word keeps floating through the desert air like a mirage: change. It’s the buzzword of the offseason, the soothing mantra being whispered from the executive suites to the practice court. And while it doesn’t yet smell like a full-blown front office teardown, it reeks of reshuffling. A shifting of chairs on the deck of a ship that isn’t quite sinking, but sure as hell isn’t steering straight.
At the top of that reshuffling wish list? None other than Bob Myers.
The Phoenix Suns have strong interest in former Golden State Warriors executive Bob Myers according to @TheSteinLine via The Stein Line newsletter.

Yeah. That Bob Myers. The architect of a dynasty. The man who took the Golden State Warriors from a punchline to a powerhouse. Four rings and a franchise forever altered. It’s the kind of name that sends a tingle down the spine of a fan base desperate for relevance beyond headlines about payroll bloating and squandered title windows.
The real question isn’t why would the Suns want Bob Myers? That part’s easy. They have a “strong interest” in him? Duh. Who wouldn’t?

The real question is this: Why in the name of Elliott Perry’s socks would Bob Myers want the Phoenix Suns?
Phoenix is going to be a brutal gig for whoever steps into this firestorm. There’s no sugarcoating it. The decisions made in the rearview have built a mountain of complications, and the road ahead isn’t paved, it’s jagged, uphill, and littered with the ghosts of bad contracts and busted chemistry.
Maybe the type of person drawn to this kind of chaos believes they can be the force. The one to rewrite the ending. The mythmaker in a city starved for one. But make no mistake, it won’t be easy. Not even close.
Whoever the Suns tap next for their front office and head coach will need to possess a touch of masochism. Because to take this job, to willingly wade into the teeth of this storm, you’ve got to enjoy pain.
I’d love if Bob Myers were genuinely interested in coming to Phoenix. Who wouldn’t? The man rebuilt a dynasty out of dust in the Bay. But I don’t see a world where that actually happens.
And here’s one big reason why: Myers loves Nikola Jokic.
“If I was building a team to win a championship, [Nikola Jokic] would be my first pick.”

Oh, and look at that. The Denver Nuggets just so happen to have an opening in their front office. So if you’re Bob Myers, what’s the more appealing gig: steering a franchise weighed down by depleted draft capital, an inflated payroll, and a front office reshuffle masquerading as progress…or hitching your wagon to a three-time MVP in his prime and a team that isn’t falling apart at the seams?
Yeah. Exactly.
So sure, I’d like to be excited about the Suns being “linked” to Myers, but let’s be honest, this is a one-sided conversation. Phoenix might be dropping his name at parties, but Bob probably isn’t texting back. And if there’s one thing I’ve learned following this team for too damn long, it’s not to get swept up in these flirtations. Analyze them, absorb them, let ‘em wash over you like a monsoon storm in July, and then move on.
If by some cosmic accident it did happen? I’d be pleased. Maybe even relieved. But excited? No. We’ve earned the right to be cautious.
I would love this. But I refuse to get excited about anything https://t.co/aTa0Ypbqfe
