Khaman Maluach is ready for the spotlight, and Summer League is his proving ground.
One of the quiet ripple effects of the Kevin Durant trade was its ability to delay a handful of key administrative moves. Because the deal, agreed to on June 22, couldn’t be made official until the NBA’s July 6 moratorium ended, the Phoenix Suns found themselves in a holding pattern.
They couldn’t announce things that were directly tied to that trade, even if the rest of the league had already moved forward. One such example? The release of their Summer League roster.
While other teams have been rolling out their squads in anticipation of the Las Vegas showcase, the Suns had to wait. Their No. 10, No. 31, and No. 41 overall picks in the 2025 NBA Draft all came via that trade with Houston. Until the ink was dry, they were in limbo.
But now that the deal is official, the fog has cleared. And we finally know who will be representing Phoenix in Vegas.

The headliner of the Suns’ Summer League roster is clear: we’re finally getting our first look at Khaman Maluach, the 7’2” center from Duke who was taken 10th overall in the 2025 NBA Draft. After a season spent surrounded by star talent at Duke, playing alongside Cooper Flagg and Kon Knueppel — both of whom were drafted ahead of him — this will be our first chance to see Maluach on his own. No safety net. No shadows. Just raw potential, on full display.
He won’t be the only name worth watching.
Rasheer Fleming, the versatile forward from Saint Joe’s whom the Suns masterfully moved up to snag with the first pick of the second round, will be suiting up in Vegas. So will sharpshooter Koby Brea, taken 41st after the Suns packaged picks 52 and 59 to go get him.
Returning to the summer stage are two familiar faces: Ryan Dunn and Oso Ighodaro. Both impressed last year in Vegas and went on to carve out meaningful roles during the regular season, even if the season itself didn’t end how anyone hoped.
Summer League tips off this Friday, July 11, at 6:00 PM on ESPN, as the Phoenix Suns face off against the Washington Wizards in Las Vegas. It’ll be our first glimpse at the next generation in action—new picks, returning prospects, and the early stages of whatever this new era becomes.
