Brian Gregory is wheelin’ and dealin’.
Oh, you thought the Phoenix Suns were done? You thought Brian Gregory had hung up his second apron, wiped his hands, and called it a night? Think again. The man’s still in the kitchen, and the burners are just heating up.
Earlier today, the Suns flipped two future second-round picks to Brooklyn for the 36th overall pick. Smart move. The Nets, having already collected five fresh bodies in the first round like they were stockpiling for the basketball apocalypse, had no use for more youth. So Phoenix swoops in, takes the pick, and you figure, OK, they’re content.
But no.
Armed with picks 52 and 59, what do the Suns do? They strike again.

That’s right. The Suns packaged picks 52 and 59 and moved up to grab the 41st overall pick. Now it gets fun.
Phoenix already made noise at the top of the draft, selecting Khaman Maluach at No. 10 and flipping their 29th pick for a starting-caliber center in Mark Williams. Add in the earlier trade with Brooklyn for pick No. 36, and suddenly the Suns are armed with 36 and 41 in the second round, prime real estate for finding rotational gold.
But done? DONE?! NO!
The Minnesota Timberwolves are trading the first pick in tonight’s NBA draft — No. 31 — to the Phoenix Suns for No. 36 and two future second-round picks, sources tell ESPN. Suns continue rebuild by moving up to 31 and 41 in draft — send out 36, 52, 59 and two future seconds.

By packaging the 36th pick — acquired earlier in the day — with additional second-round assets, presumably from the Kevin Durant trade, the Suns made a decisive move up the board to secure the 31st pick, the very first of the second round. The message is clear: they have their eyes on Rasheer Fleming, the versatile forward from St. Joe’s, and they’re not leaving it to chance.
Yup we have it. Suns moving up to 31 and will take Rasheer Fleming with the pick. https://t.co/FVW7SLtAtJ

Phoenix is not messing around. They’ve stormed into the second round like a front office possessed, And they’re not done.
Rasheer Fleming was a player the Suns valued highly. Extremely highly. According to Arizona Sports’ John Gambadoro, Phoenix had him ranked as high as 20th on their draft board. A 6’9” power forward with a rare blend of explosiveness and fluid athleticism, Fleming isn’t just dynamic. He’s the kind of upside swing that can redefine a team’s frontcourt if developed right.
They still hold pick 41, a live wire ready to spark again. Brian Gregory is out here playing 4D chess while the rest of the league is still unfolding their draft night napkins. He’s making moves. Calculated, aggressive, unapologetic moves. And I love it. Every chaotic, beautiful bit of it.
