We need a reason to watch the postseason, right?
The Phoenix Suns‘ season might be over, but that doesn’t mean the basketball world stops spinning. Or that it stops mattering. In fact, if you’re one of those folks banging the trade-Kevin-Durant drum, there are a couple of postseason series you should be watching like a hawk with caffeine jitters. Why? Because the outcomes might just plant the seeds of desperation in certain front offices. Desperation that whispers: “Hey…maybe KD is the answer.”
So here I am, stepping into my best used car salesman persona to pitch you on a little something to keep your eyes busy, your emotions invested, and maybe your wallet a little fatter.

Hey there, Suns fans! Bummed your team is watching the playoffs from the couch like the rest of us? Craving some action? Looking for a reason to care about basketball that doesn’t involve Mike Budenholzer’s coaching tree? Well, do I have a deal for you!
There are teams out there — real, live, competitive basketball teams — who could be just desperate enough this summer to think Kevin Durant is the missing piece to their championship puzzle. I’m looking at you, New York Knicks. You too, Memphis Grizzlies. Even the Denver Nuggets might kick the tires if things go sideways.
So why not root for chaos? Why not root for them to fail spectacularly? And if you’re going to root, why not make a little scratch on the side?
On FanDuel, if you bet on the Detroit Pistons, Oklahoma City Thunder, and Los Angeles Clippers all to win their respective series against those aforementioned KD-desperate teams, you’re looking at a juicy +714 payout. That’s right, +714! All for a little schadenfreude and a lot of potential future benefit.
So what are you waiting for? Come on down, smash that bet slip, and let’s manifest a scenario where Phoenix gains leverage while your parlay gains value.
And…scene.
In all seriousness, this is the lens I’m watching the postseason through: which teams are going to emerge from the wreckage hungry for more? Who’s looking around thinking, “We’re one piece away,” and who might believe that piece is Kevin Durant?
That’s the game now. Not just watching who wins, but watching who falls short just enough to convince themselves they need a closer. A scorer. A name. Obviously, there are layers to this. Cap space, draft assets, front office guts. Not every team is willing to go all-in the way Phoenix did in February of 2022.
But all it takes is one. One team desperate enough to swing big. And if two teams enter the bidding war? That’s when things could start breaking the Suns’ way.
Let the postseason begin.
