2021 NFL Draft: Arizona Cardinals get cornerback in round one, then go offense on day two in new mock draft

With free agency a week away, we will be getting similar mock drafts to what we have seen most of the offseason.

One analyst I enjoy reading is Chad Reuter of NFL.com, who typically does multi-round mock drafts, even this early in the process.

It’s a fun exercise in following how his view of your team changes, which to me is the best way to see how engaged draft analysts are into teams and their offaeasons.

Chad dropped a four-round 2021 NFL Mock Draft on Friday, let’s take a look at what he has the Arizona Cardinals doing.

16. Jaycee Horn, CB, South Carolina

Horn is a physical cornerback who reminds me of Marlon Humphrey when he came out of Alabama in 2017. Humphrey was selected 16th overall by Baltimore in that draft, so it makes sense for the Cardinals to snap up a potential replacement for Patrick Peterson at this slot.

49. Frank Darby, WR, ASU

79. Larry Rountree III, RB, Missouri

I don’t like this draft at all, because of who Reuter has the Cardinals taking in round two and three.

It’s about three rounds early for each, in my opinion.

However, I always remind people names matter slightly less at this juncture because analyst are giving you their rankings.

So, for Reuter having the Cardinals go cornerback in round one makes sense. While Horn seems to be consensus CB3, he’s got a feisty demeanor and good cover skills.

In round two an outside wide receiver opposite DeAndre Hopkins is a great idea, I’d prefer Terrace Marshall Jr. at that spot who was available in Reuter’s mock.

Rountree is a good back, I’m just not sure I want him in the third round.

What are your thoughts?
