Listening to the rumors starting to flow about the 2025 NFL Draft.
Happy Tuesday one and all.
With the NFL draft just over 48 hours away, listen to everything and believe nothing you hear.
However, I did want to go over something interesting coming out just before the draft, and that is that the trade market, that has been insanely quiet for this time of year, could be heating up on draft night.
Trading texts this morning…I think we’re going to see the trade talks heat up soon! One person I talked to thinks there will be a lot of action in Round 1

Why you ask? Well as we discussed a bit yesterday, everyone is looking to move down, and when everyone is looking to move down, it means savvy teams will be moving up at a discount.
Been saying it all cycle: in a draft where a lot of teams want to trade down, the price to trade up will be cheaper and accordingly I think we will see a decent number of draft day trades. Not expecting a record or anything, but still some! https://t.co/rFoZqsdJkP

What does that mean? Well first it likely means that the typical compensation is out the window, so all the lovely trade charts we have are useless.
Second, with the way this draft is unfolding, teams like the Texans, Chiefs and Eagles will likely be looking to move up if there is a specific prospect they want to acquire.
There seems to be less desperation to move up, and instead a more steady desire to move down as the meat of this draft stands between 15 and 90, that is the consensus among people I have spoken with.
So, if the Cardinals are moving down, it won’t be for a king’s ransom.
Hell, Kyle Posey talked about it with the 49ers today:
This lists the Broncos as a trade up candidate to 11 with the 49ers if Jeanty makes it there. Denver picks 20th.
Maybe not apples to apples because it was for a QB, but the Bears gave the Giants a 5th, & future 1st/4th moving from 20th to 11th for Justin Fields in ‘21. https://t.co/E0FcSGCpne pic.twitter.com/GF84XA4tBz

This draft will be fun because it is unique, but also because there are going to be smart teams that make moves, let’s hope the Arizona Cardinals are one of them.
