The NFC West has been interesting this offseason. It just got a little more interesting with a big trade of draft picks. The San Francisco 49ers, one of the Arizona Cardinals; division rivals, appear to be prepared to select a quarterback in the first round.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, they have agreed to a trade with the Miami Dolphins to acquire the third overall pick in the draft.
In exchange, the 49ers will give the Dolphins the No. 12 overall pick, their third-round in 2022 and then their first-round selections in the 2022 and 2023 drafts.

The means the end of the Jimmy Garoppolo era as starting quarterback is coming to a close sometime soon. It is possible they will roll with Garoppolo this coming season or at least part of the season until the player they draft is ready, or they could also trade Garoppolo before the season begins and go all in with a rookie like the Cardinals did with Kyler Murray two seasons ago.
Assuming that quarterbacks are also selected with the first and second picks of the draft by the Jacksonville Jaguars and New York Jets, there will be at least three quarterbacks taken at the top of the draft.
