5 Players That Could Still Be Traded

June 30, 2023 by Last Word On Pro Football

Trade Candidates

With minicamp over and training camp still roughly a month away, the NFL is in the midst of its dead period. However, the NFL calendar never truly comes to a stop, as there are quite a few trade candidates that could find a new home in the coming weeks. While the free agent pursuits of DeAndre Hopkins and Dalvin Cook might be stealing the headlines, these five players could also be on the move.

Top 5 NFL Trade Candidates, Ranked

1. Hunter Renfrow

The Las Vegas Raiders broke the bank in free agency for Jakobi Meyers, which was a little confusing considering Hunter Renfrow is already on the roster. Both players make their living in the slot and have a similar skill set, but the addition of Meyers heavily implies that Josh McDaniels thinks he’s an upgrade on Renfrow. If that’s the case, then trading the former fifth-round pick makes all the sense in the world, and there should be plenty of teams interested in adding a reliable option in the short part of the field.

2. Danielle Hunter

Even after releasing Dalvin Cook, the Minnesota Vikings need to free up more money if they want to re-sign Justin Jefferson and find an answer at quarterback next year. Danielle Hunter is still a very good player at an important position, but there is a chance that Minnesota decides he’s not worth his price tag. For what it’s worth, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport has reported that there is serious interest in a Danielle Hunter trade, so he has to be one of the top candidates to find a new home.

Ideal Trade Destinations: Kansas City Chiefs, Baltimore Ravens, Jacksonville Jaguars

3. Josh Jacobs

Speaking of Raiders on the move, Las Vegas has to regret declining the fifth-year option on Josh Jacobs. While the team used the franchise tag to bring him back for another season, Jacobs has yet to sign, and NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reports that Jacobs might hold out if he can’t get a new contract. The running back market is barren right now, but if a team is willing to part with a decent asset for the reigning rushing leader, then perhaps he could be a trade candidate.

Ideal Trade Destinations: New York Jets, Miami Dolphins, Arizona Cardinals

4. Ryan Tannehill

The Tennessee Titans are not going to be good in 2023. After making the playoffs in three consecutive seasons, the wheels fell off the wagon in the back half of 2022, and now this team has officially missed their championship window. With that in mind, it doesn’t make much sense for the team to stick with an age-35 Ryan Tannehill entering the final year of his contract. The Titans should see what they have in Malik Willis and Will Levis, and Tannehill should have the opportunity to be an adequate bridge starter for a team that is only a quarterback away from contention. We might have to wait for an inevitable training camp injury for a trade, but once another starter goes down, Tannehill will be a natural trade candidate.

Ideal Trade Destinations: Atlanta Falcons, any team that suffers a quarterback injury

5. Jerry Jeudy

The Jerry Jeudy trade rumors have died down since the conclusion of the 2023 NFL Draft, but the fact remains that is he still a logical trade candidate. The Broncos already signed Tim Patrick and Courtland Sutton to sizable contracts and traded up for the right to select wide receiver Marvin Mims in the second round. Jeudy probably has the highest trade value of the bunch, and he is easiest to send away from a financial perspective. If Mims impresses in camp or if some team raises their offer, then perhaps Jeudy could find a new home.
