With the way the 2021 offseason is going, the Arizona Cardinals are now waiting things out to make sure that whoever else they sign does not take away from their potential compensatory picks in 2022.
As of right now, the Cardinals are projected by Over the Cap to have three compensatory picks in 2022.
For losing Patrick Peterson to the Minnesota Vikings, they are projected to receive a fifth round compensatory pick.
For losing Angelo Blackson and Dan Arnold they are projected to receive a seventh round compensatory pick for each player.
The Cardinals would likely have received two additional sixth round compensatory picks for losing Haason Reddick and Kenyan Drake, but each were canceled out by subsequent free agent signings by the Arizona Cardinals in A.J. Green and Matt Prater.
Last season, April 27th was the last day that free agent signings counted towards the compensatory picks formula.
So, as things get closer to the draft and when those picks will be as locked in as they can be, I would imagine the Cardinals will sign another free agent or two.
