The Arizona Cardinals were locked into a defensive lineman in round one.
Happy Thursday one and all.
As we get further away from the 2025 NFL Draft, we are getting some more and more information divulged.
ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler gives us some insider notes on each team, and for the Arizona Cardinals it seemed like it was always going to be defensive line.
From E$PN:
In the first round, the Cardinals had eyes on eventual pick Walter Nolen and pass rusher Mykel Williams, who went five spots before them. It feels as if they were going defensive line regardless.
This begs a couple of questions.
- Who would they have taken if both were on the board?
- If they went Williams, who would have been the man in round three, because Burch and Williams seem… redundant.
The next defensive line type that was drafted was Burch’s Oregon teammate Jamaree Caldwell, but he’s a much different beast than Nolen, as he is 6-2 332lbs.
Maybe they go a different route, but Deone Walker, Ty Robinson, C.J. West, and Josh Farmer were all available, so they had choices if they went with Williams.
I like how things ended up, but interesting to know and wonder about.
Why didn’t I bring up a DT in round two? We will take a look tomorrow.
