Cardinals LB Haason Reddick snubbed for NFC Defensive Player of the Month

January 8, 2021 by Cards Wire Leave a Comment

The NFL announced the players of the month for December. In the NFC, the Defensive Player of the Month was Washington Football Team rookie defensive end Chase Young.

Young had an impactful month with 17 tackles, three sacks, two forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries and one he returned for a touchdown.

However, statistically, Arizona Cardinals linebacker Haason Reddick was better. Reddick had 12 tackles, 7.5 sacks and six forced fumbles in the month of December. Five of those sacks and three of the forced fumbles happened in one game, but he logged sacks in three of the four games in the month and had forced fumbles in three of four as well.

Reddick earned Defensive Player of the Week for his big game in Week 14, but apparently what he did was not enough to win the player of the month award.

Reddick himself couldn’t believe it.

No DPOTM? Wow

Young’s team is in the postseason, as the Washington Football Team went 7-9 and won the NFC East. That is the only difference. Both teams went 2-2 in Demember and Reddick had better numbers.

There is no question that Younmg deserved to be the rookie of the month, but Reddick deserved the player of the month honor more than Young.
