Cardinals’ Trey McBride celebrates National Tight Ends Day in style

October 28, 2024 by ArizonaSports.com - 98.7 FM

The Arizona Cardinals clearly understood the assignment when it came to honoring National Tight Ends Day on Sunday.

Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray looked tight end Trey McBride’s way early and often throughout Arizona’s 28-27 win over the Miami Dolphins.

By the time it was all said and done, McBride had amassed 124 yards on nine catches (11 targets). That included five plays of at least 12 yards or more.

“Trey’s a beast. I can’t say enough about Trey,” Murray told reporters postgame. “I tell you all every week, I think he can be the best in the league. The athleticism, being able to block, he can do it all. He’s one of our best guys. We gotta continue to give him the rock.”

“(National Tight Ends Day) didn’t go into my play, but I did know that (it was today). Shoutout Elijah Higgins’ birthday, too,” the signal caller added.

With Sunday’s performance, McBride now has three 100-yard games under his belt. Arizona is 2-1 when he passes the century mark.

“We had good coverage on him, he just made plays,” Dolphins and former Cardinals defensive lineman Calais Campbell told reporters postgame. “They do a good job of finding ways to get him the ball in space and stuff. A lot of times, it’s deep to short and they take the check down to him and he makes guys miss because he’s a great athlete. Another great player, talented as can be.”
