With only a few days left until the 2021 NFL Free Agency tampering period legally begins the Arizona Cardinals have some decisions to make.
According to the fine folks at Over the Cap the Cardinals currently sit with $21,428,869 in cap space.
They have a few small moves they can make to create another $10 or so million, but after today’s news about teams like the Kansas City Chiefs blowing out veterans like Eric Fisher and Mitchell Schwartz, there is a different mood in the air.
Could the Cardinals make two major moves to create another $14.5 million immediately?
The Cardinals could cut both Justin Pugh and Devon Kennard with June 1 designations gain about that much in one fell swoop.
It seemed unlikely initially, but the Cardinals and the rest of the NFL are playing a different game this offseason with the reduced salary cap in place.
Meaning some veterans are going to be cap casualties and have to find work on one-year type deals. Pugh and Kennard are two possible Cardinals that fit that bill.
While they are both still more than good enough to remain, their salary in the 2021 season is heavy.
Sure, they signed those deals before we knew how much the NFL salary cap would drop, but that is the breaks.
