Marvin Harrison Jr. showed loyalty to former Ohio State teammate Kyle McCord on last night’s episode of Hard Knocks.
In a clip from the NFL Scouting Combine in February, Harrison could be seen going over highlight clips with New York Giants wide receivers coach Mike Groh.
When Groh pulled up video of a play where Harrison beat his man and might have scored a touchdown if not for an errant pass by quarterback Kyle McCord, he tried to bait the star wideout into throwing his constituent under the bus.
To his credit, Harrison did not “take the cheese” as Groh said.
“You beat a guy like this, got a chance for a touchdown. He underthrows it. What are you coming back to the huddle saying to him?” Groh asked.
“Oh, I don’t say nothing to quarterbacks,” Harrison said modestly.
“I mean, that’s a s–t throw, right?” Groh said.
“I mean, I can make a play right?” Harrison countered, refusing to take the bait. “I will never say anything to the quarterback. I’ll always blame it on myself.”

Harrison is deservedly receiving praise on social media for not trashing McCord.
“That’s his boy from high school , no chance he was tossing him under,” said one person.
“He’s a smart man for not falling for that trap,” added another.
“Really came away impressed with Marvin Harrison, Jr. on Hard Knocks episode 2. Would NOT throw his QB under the bus. He also knew there was no way he was slipping to 6th overall. Stud,” said Fox Sports’ Peter Schrager.
“The Harrison family exudes high character and I can’t wait to see this man have a long career with the Cardinals!” said an Arizona fan.
Harrison was eventually selected by the Arizona Cardinals with the No. 4 overall pick, the first wide receiver off the board.
The Giants wound up taking LSU’s Malik Nabers with their first round pick at No. 6 overall.
