The 2021 NFL offseason may be one for the history books.

First the Los Angeles Rams traded for Matthew Stafford and sent Jared Goff to the Detroit Lions in exchange.

Then, the Houston Texans released soon to be Hall of Famer J.J. Watt.

Now, the Philadelphia Eagles have traded quarterback Carson Wentz to the Indianapolis Colts.

Philadelphia has agreed to trade Carson Wentz to the Indianapolis Colts in exchange for a 2021 third-round pick and a conditional 2022 second-round pick that could turn into a first, league sources tell @mortreport and me.

If Carson Wentz’s playtime is at or above 75% next season, the conditional 2022 second-round pick would become a first-round pick, per sources. The second-round pick also.could become a first if Wentz plays at least 70 percent of the plays and the Colts go to the playoffs.

The Colts gave up far less for Wentz than the Rams did for Stafford, but the Eagles had to eat quite a bit of the Wentz contract.

That gives the Eagles the freedom to either move forward with Jalen Hurts as their quarterback or take one of Trey Lance, Justin Fields or Mac Jones if Trevor Lawrence and Zach Wilson go one and two as expected.

Wentz has fallen off completely after his likely MVP season in 2017. He has struggled to stay healthy, and struggled with consistency.

Now, he gets a fresh start with the Colts. If he works out for the Colts it’s a steal.

If it doesn’t, they were unlikely to get one of the top quarterback prospects this year anyway.

This offseason is going to be fascinating to watch unfold.
