Is not adding a cornerback the worst-case scenario for the Arizona Cardinals in the 2025 NFL Draft?

PFF thinks the Arizona Cardinals need to add a cornerback in the 2025 NFL Draft.

When it comes to the Arizona Cardinals there are plenty of needs they have but also plenty of options they have to get those needs filled.

For the Arizona Cardinals they added help along the defensive front, re-signed some key offensive linemen, and added two intriguing if not slightly underwhelming options at linebacker if you are looking for big names.

So, as we said heading into the 2025 NFL Draft they have a number of options.

Ironically PFF thinks if they don’t add a cornerback in the NFL Draft it is the worst-case scenario for the Arizona Cardinals.

From PFF:

ARIZONA CARDINALS: NOT ADDING IMPACT CORNERBACKS

The Cardinals were active spenders on their defense in free agency, particularly along the defensive line — totaling $124.4 million on Josh Sweat, Dalvin Tomlinson, Baron Browning and L.J. Collier. But very little was done to upgrade a cornerback room in which Sean Murphy-Bunting and Starling Thomas V finished with sub-61.0 PFF coverage grades and 2024 second-rounder Max Melton remains unproven.

Arizona could still pursue a free agent like Asante Samuel Jr. or Rasul Douglas, but the pickings are slim and the team likely needs multiple perimeter options next to Garrett Williams inside. Failing to add at least one high-upside cornerback — probably in Round 1 or 2 — would be unwise.

This is an interesting one. I think the Arizona Cardinals can add a cornerback, that is a position where you never can have enough, but if they don’t upgrade it is a worst-case scenario?

That seems a bit of a stretch, but I am curious what you think?
