Kyler Murray at Arizona Cardinals facility, to attend minicamp

June 14, 2022 by ArizonaSports.com - 98.7 FM

Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray is slated to participate in the team’s mandatory minicamp kicking off Tuesday, per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

Rapoport adds that Murray was already at the team facility on Monday taking a physical in preparation for the minicamp.

Murray, who is seeking a contract extension, did not attend the first chunk of voluntary organized team activities but joined his teammates for the second session, which notably came as the Cardinals grieved the death of cornerback Jeff Gladney.

Head coach Kliff Kingsbury told reporters this offseason that the voluntary nature of OTAs made Murray’s status day-to-day but that the QB was expected for mandatory minicamp.

A two-time Pro Bowler, Murray threw for 3,787 yards, 25 touchdowns and 10 interceptions in 2021, his third NFL season. The first overall pick from the 2019 draft completed 69.2% of his passes last season, a career high.

Despite not attending the majority of Arizona’s voluntary work, Kingsbury and Murray have been in constant contact as they look to take another step forward in Year 4.

“He looks good, been working out,” Kingsbury said of Murray earlier this month. “Obviously we knew (strength and conditioning coach Buddy Morris was) in constant contact with his trainer there in Dallas so we knew what he’s been doing.

“He looks like he’s been working hard.”
