The Arizona Cardinals will open the preseason Friday night against the Dallas Cowboys at home in State Farm Stadium. With one fewer preseason game, the way coaches approach playing time could change.
And while some coaches don’t want their starters playing much in the preseason, it doesn’t appear that the Cardinals will be holding many people out of these warm-up games.
According to AZCentral Sports’ Bob McManaman, head coach Kliff Kingsbury indicated his starters, including quarterback Kyler Murray, would play in the preseason opener.
Cardinals coach Kliff Kingsbury isn’t sure how much his starters will play Friday night against the visiting Cowboys but said, “I would expect most guys to get some action.” He said QB Kyler Murray will definitely play.

In years past with four preseason games, coaches might get a series or two from the starters in the opener, a quarter in the second and then a half in the third game, while the fourth would be only for back-of-the rosters battling for jobs.
So at minimum, we will see Murray and the starters a series or two and at the most, probably a quarter.
