Larry Fitzgerald hasn’t officially announced his retirement from the NFL, but it certainly sounds like the legendary wideout’s playing days are over.
During an appearance on the SiriusXM Radio show Let’s Go with Jim Gray, Fitzgerald was asked how hard it is to give up something he loves so much. He did a nice job of answering the question without definitively saying that he’s done playing football.
“I don’t think it’s really kind of set into me mentally like that yet,” Fitzgerald said. “I still enjoy the game. I enjoy talking about the game, I enjoy watching my son compete in the game. I feel like mentally I’m still there and enjoying every part of it. Maybe later on this year or years from now I’ll be able to look at it in that manner, but I just don’t look at it that way right now.”
Later in the interview, Fitzgerald revealed what he misses most about football right now.
“I miss the interaction with my teammates but I’m in a good place,” Fitzgerald told Jim Gray. “Spending time with the family, playing a little golf, doing a little travel, a chance to spend some time with people you never really get a chance to spend time with at this time of year.”
“Right now I’m content. I’m very content.”
Larry Fitzgerald, on his @SiriusXMNFL show “Let’s Go!”, continues to sound like a man who isn’t playing again — but also like a man who can’t quite say those words.https://t.co/s4IUbmA34l

Judging by those comments, Fitzgerald doesn’t currently have any plans to return to the NFL. However, he won’t close the book on that chapter of his life because he just isn’t sure what the future has in store for him.
“The desire to play at this time is the same as it’s been. I’m very comfortable with that. But you never know what tomorrow holds.”
If Fitzgerald doesn’t return to the NFL, he’ll finish his career with 1,432 catches for 17,492 yards and 121 touchdowns.
