In the last week, the Arizona Cardinals have seen a (former) Pro Bowl corner leave town and a (former) Pro Bowl cornerback arrive.
Patrick Peterson, who had spent his entire 10-year career in Arizona, engineered a deal with the Minnesota Vikings while former All-Pro and Super Bowl hero Malcolm Butler signed a one-year contract with the Cardinals.
Even with Butler in the fold for 2021, the Cardinals have suggested that Byron Murphy will remain in the the slot and the team still needs help at the other outside corner position. Many mock drafters recognize that very fact.
Fifteen out of 21 mocks added to our Arizona Sports NFL Mock Draft Tracker this week have the Cardinals taking a corner with their first-round pick, which is 16th overall.
Once again that group is led by South Carolina defensive back Jaycee Horn, who showed up eight more times this week, bringing his total of mock projections to the Cardinals to 73 — easily the most of any single player in this draft cycle. (The next closest is USC guard Alijah Vera-Tucker, who’s been mocked to the Cardinals 24 times.)
The other corners to get mentions this week: Virginia Tech’s Caleb Farley (3), Alabama’s Patrick Surtain II (2) and Northwestern’s Greg Newsome (2).
