As we slowly inch closer to the 2021 NFL Draft, one thing remains constant in mock drafts as it pertains to the Arizona Cardinals: There’s a good chance that they draft a cornerback with the 16th overall pick.
Eleven of the 20 new mock drafts tracked by ArizonaSports.com this week have general manager Steve Keim selecting a corner, and one showed up more than anyone.
Jaycee Horn, the 6-foot-1, 205-pound defensive back out of South Carolina was linked to the Cards in eight different mocks — the single highest number of weekly projections for any player in this process, which started in early January.
During Arizona Sports’ Newsmakers Week with Doug & Wolf on Friday morning, co-host Doug Franz asked Keim specifically about Horn, but the ninth-year GM chuckled and deflected the question, pretty much as any NFL exec would do about a specific prospect two-plus months before the draft.
Horn was written about more extensively in our inaugural mock draft tracker of 2021 and has shown up in a total of 32 of the 142 mocks to the Cardinals so far.
Alabama’s Patrick Surtain II and Virginia Tech’s Caleb Farley were the other two corners projected to the Cardinals in a total of three mocks this week.
USC guard Alijah Vera-Tucker, who showed up five times this week, also continues to be a popular mock target for Arizona.
