We are still months away from the preseason but NFL owners have approved some logistical moves for cutting rosters down in the preseason. According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, there will be three cutdown dates, one after each preseason games.
Teams carry 90 players on their offseason roster.
They must cut down the rosters to 85 players the Tuesday after the first preseason game, down to 80 by the Tuesday after the second and then final cutdowns down to 53 players will come after the third and final preseason contest before 4 p.m. ET Aug. 30.
This is the same thing that happened last year in the preseason.
