Believe it or not, the NFL preseason is fast approaching. The league released the primetime schedule on Thursday.
On Aug. 5, the Pittsburgh Steelers and Dallas Cowboys will kickoff the preseason at the Hall of Fame Game. The contest will be broadcast on FOX.
Just 15 days later, Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs will take on Kyler Murray and the Arizona Cardinals on Aug. 20. ESPN will broadcast the game, which commences at 8 p.m. ET.
Three more preseason games will get the primetime flex. The Jaguars and Saints will duel it out at 8 p.m. on Aug. 23 on ESPN. Then, on Aug. 29, the Dolphins and Bengals square off at 4 p.m. ET on CBS, followed by the Browns–Falcons game at 8 p.m. ET on NBC. Take a look at the full preseason primetime schedule below, courtesy of NFL insider Field Yates.
NFL Preseason Primetime game schedule:
August 5th: Steelers vs. Cowboys, 8 PM, Hall of Fame Game (FOX)
August 20th: Chiefs at Cardinals, 8 PM (ESPN)
August 23rd: Jaguars at Saints, 8 PM (ESPN)
August 29th: Dolphins at Bengals, 4 PM (CBS), Browns at Falcons, 8 PM (NBC)— Field Yates (@FieldYates) June 10, 2021
Of all the primetime preseason games, Jaguars-Saints is probably the most intriguing.
Jacksonville is entering a new era of its organization. This is Urban Meyer‘s first year as an NFL head coach. And we’ll get one of the first looks at incoming rookie quarterback Trevor Lawrence.
The Saints, meanwhile, are moving on from Drew Brees. Jameis Winston will now be taking command. On paper, New Orleans still has one of the best rosters in the NFL, but it’ll come down to quarterback play.
Dolphins-Bengals on Aug. 29 is also an interesting match-up. It’ll pair second-year quarterbacks against each other in Tua Tagovailoa versus Joe Burrow.
