Trey McBride Fantasy Outlook: The Overall TE1

August 4, 2025 by Last Word On Pro Football

The fantasy draft season is upon us. Continuing with our fantasy player outlooks, today’s focus will be on Arizona Cardinals tight end Trey McBride. It may sound a bit far-fetched, but McBride could have been even better last season. As we begin to finalize and implement our draft plans and strategies, McBride will be a target of ours if we are drafting in that six-to-nine range. In 2024, McBride led all fantasy tight ends in several key metrics. Despite that, he scored just two receiving touchdowns on the season. He is due for positive regression in that department, but that is just one of the reasons we are bullish on his fantasy outlook. In addition, some may not be aware that McBride bested Brock Bowers in fantasy points per game scoring average.

Trey McBride Fantasy Outlook: The Overall TE1

Fantasy Football Player Profile: Trey McBride

2024 In Review

Trey McBride blew up last season. Among qualifying tight ends, he was a league-best in target share, targets per route run, and catches per game. He scored 249.8 fantasy points, on 111 receptions for 1146 yards and two touchdowns. His 147 targets were second only to Brock Bowers among tight ends. The superlatives were endless when it came to fantasy tight end data. McBride was tops in first downs per route run, second in receiving yards per game, and ranked in the top three in yards per route run. His 15.6 fantasy points per game were second only to George Kittle. However, his expected fantasy points per game were 19.6, indicating he could have been even better. He accounted for 30% of all Cardinals’ receptions as well.

2025 Projection

McBride is ranked as the overall TE2 and projected to score 231 fantasy points on 99 receptions for 1,003 yards and four touchdowns. As we further project McBride’s 2025 fantasy outlook, we must elaborate on the probability that he is due for positive touchdown regression, based on past and expected volume.

Touchdowns are one statistic that is very hard to predict, but his total was somewhat of an anomaly. McBride was first among fantasy tight ends in redzone targets, was second in expected touchdowns with 8.5, but ranked just 24th in actual scores. Offensively, last season, Arizona finished in the top 10 in two tight end sets and first in 13 personnel formations. McBride was and remains the focal part of that positional group. If positive regression happens, he will flirt with a double-digit touchdowns and finish as the overall TE1 in fantasy this season!

Trey McBride Fantasy Football ADP

Trey McBride currently sits as the overall TE2 with an ADP of 26, placing him in the early part of round three. With his high volume usage expected to hold, he is due for a major positive touchdown regression. For Arizona to have success on offense, McBride has to be a major part of the Cardinals’ passing attack. Top wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr., a terrific buy-low fantasy target, will improve, and that only helps McBride’s outlook. He is a strong bet to finish as the overall TE1 and exceed his round-three ADP. If you want to spend up at tight end early in drafts and gain that weekly positional advantage, McBride is the one to target!
