What are your honest thoughts on the free agent signings?
Here are some reactions to the deals the Cardinals have made and some thought s about some free agents who signed elsewhere.
- Baron Browning —- has fit in well since arriving via trade —- nice to get a 2-year added profit out of that trade with the Broncos for the Cardinals’ 2025 6th round pick. B-Bro is a special athlete whose best football days are very likely ahead of him.
- Aaron Brewer —- $1.4M for 2025 is a just reward for one of the most dependable, hardest working long snappers in the NFL.
- Joey Blount —- big play waiting to happen on STs and as a nickel safety —- so cool that they gave him a 2-year deal.
- Evan Brown —- Cardinals rave about his work ethic and leadership —- had a good season but a rough time trying to handle his former Seahawks’ teammate Leonard Williams. Hopefully this year Evan Brown will have surprises up his sleeves for Williams. Another 2-year deal, feels good.
- Kelvin Beachum —- he is the most humble, disciplined and unsung player the Cardinals have had over the past 5 years. I was worried that Klayton Adams would scoop him up. Feeling especially relieved that this was not the case, and that Beach is staying home in Arizona.
- Josh Sweat —- MOJO just reeled in their first big catch UFA in DE Josh Sweat from the Eagles. This could be the breakthrough in free agency that the Cardinals need in terms of the product on the field and the perception that the team is now serious about winning. Note: I think the Cardinals’ re-signing of Baron Browning is now more significant than what first met the eye —- is the plan to play him at ILB?
- Haason Reddick (to TB $14M 1 year) —- when a player shows you he has an off button, don’t reward him.
- Milton Williams (to NE at $26M a year) —- been writing on X for 2 days a fun fact: Cardinals DT Dante Stills has more regular season sacks the past two year than Milton Williams, 8 to 7. Williams lit up the SB but in reality, he hasn’t started over 20 games or recorded over 20 sacks total in 4 seasons, and he’s been a liability versus the run, even when surrounded on all sides by Pro Bowlers.
- Sam Darnold (to SEA $33M a year for 3 years) —- I believe Geno Smith is a better all-around QB. Cards had better finish on Darnold much better than they did in Minnesota and not leave JSN wide open as they did with Justin Jefferson with the game on the line.
Will post more reactions here on this thread as the signings come in.
