Tuesday was the deadline for NFL teams to use the franchise tag, essentially securing one of their impending free agents for at least one more season. It gives the two sides until July to sign a long-term deal and pays the player as one of the top of his position for the coming season.
The Arizona Cardinals did not use the tag on anyone, but several teams around the league did. Some of the players who have been tagged might have been free agent targets for the Cardinals.
