The NFL International Series in England has been a popular attraction for over a decade. But another European country appears to be open to hosting future games too.
According to Sky Sports, seven cities in Germany have expressed interest in becoming NFL host partners. The city of Munich – Germany’s third-largest city – is reportedly already in talks with the NFL about becoming a host city.
“We are currently waiting for more information from the NFL regarding the requirements to be met for implementation in Munich,” Munich Department for Education and Sport spokesman Thomas Gross said. “A final application can generally only be made after approval by the city council. As soon as the LHM has the outstanding information, it will be examined and submitted to the city council for decision.”
Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like Germany’s two largest cities – Berlin and Hamburg – are among the seven cities. Berlin is reportedly open to the idea while Hamburg have no plans to submit a bid at this time.
The NFL has been actively casting a wide net within Germany to build its growing European market for several months now.

There’s no denying that Germany loves gridiron football. Their German Football League has been active since 1979.
The country also boasts one of the NFL’s top international viewerships.
It feels like only a matter of time before Germany gets its chance to host NFL games. And in the years to come, maybe even their own NFL franchise.
