3-Time MLB All-Star Reportedly Coming Out Of Retirement

October 3, 2021 by The Spun

A general view of Fenway Park during a Red Sox game.

A three-time Major League Baseball All-Star infielder has reportedly decided to come out of retirement and pursue a comeback.

According to multiple reports, former Boston Red Sox star Hanley Ramirez is interested in playing in 2022.

Ramirez, 37, last played in 2019. The three-time All-Star played for the Cleveland Indians in 2019. Ramirez began his career in Boston in 2005. He later played for the Marlins, Dodgers and Red Sox again.

The former shortstop made three All-Star Games. He was the National League Rookie of the Year in 2006. Ramirez won the NL batting title in 2009 and was a two-time Silver Slugger award winner.

It will be interesting to see if any Major League teams have interest in signing the veteran infielder ahead of the 2022 season.

Ramirez last played for the Indians in 2019. However, he didn’t last in Cleveland for very long. Ramirez played in just 16 games, going 9 for 49 at the plate (.184 batting average) before getting designated for assignment.
