On Tuesday night, Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Amari Cooper made headlines following a very bold comment.
The talented wide receiver had one of the best seasons of his career during the 2020 season. It was an impressive season for the former first-round pick due to the fact that he had to play with four different quarterbacks.
Following that season, Cooper is ready to call himself the league’s best wide receiver. In a comment to the Cowboys team website, Cooper called himself the best wide receiver in the league, but knows there is still work to do to prove it.
Here’s what he said, via Cowboys.com:
“There’s a difference between thinking you’re the best and actually going out there and proving it,” Cooper said. “Do I think I’m the best? Yes. Have I proven it? I wouldn’t say I have.”
Cooper might think he’s the best wide receiver in the league, but he knows other wide receivers have put up better numbers.
“There are guys who have actually put up some great numbers, they’ve taken advantage of their opportunities and stuff like that,” he said. “I’m just still trying to take advantage of my opportunities and trying to put up those numbers to lead the league in yards, touchdowns, all across the board really.”
If Dak Prescott and Cooper can stay healthy for an entire season, 2021 could make for a special season.
