On Thursday morning, ESPN analyst Bart Scott revealed who he believes is the best player in the NFL right now. His answer will most likely surprise the majority of the NFL world.
While on Get Up, Scott stated that Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson is the best player in the league. Mike Greenberg and Kimberley A. Martin didn’t really agree with Scott’s take, but the former NFL linebacker made a decent argument.
“To me, he’s the best quarterback in the league right now,” Scott said. “He’s doing more than any other quarterback. He’s on pace for 5,000 yards passing and over 1,000 yards rushing. That would be historic and no one in the history of football could ever duplicate that. He’s a special talent.”
The timing of this take from Scott isn’t a coincidence. On Monday night, Jackson completed 37-of-43 passes for 442 yards and four touchdowns in a comeback win over the Indianapolis Colts.
“[Lamar Jackson is] the best QB in the league right now. … He’s the best player, period!”

Any doubts about Jackson’s ability to throw the football were put to rest in Week 5. Not only did he become the first quarterback in NFL history to complete 85 percent of his pass attempts while throwing for over 400 yards, he set a franchise record for most passing yards in a single game.
Some analysts won’t even mention Jackson when discussing who’s the best player in the league, but that’s downright silly.
The Ravens have been decimated by injuries this season, and yet, Jackson has them at 4-1 through the first five games. If he keeps playing at this level, he’ll need to be considered the best player in the NFL.
