Brad Stevens Reveals If He’d Leave For Lakers Job

Once the regular season came to an end, the Los Angeles Lakers fired head coach Frank Vogel. During an appearance on 98.5 The Sports Hub’s “Toucher and Rich,” Boston Celtics president of basketball operations Brad Stevens was asked about this job opening.

Stevens made it clear that he will not leave the Celtics to join the Lakers this offseason.

“I definitely would not leave the Celtics to go to the Lakers,” Stevens said. “Like, I’m definitely not doing that. I know that for a fact.”

There have been some rumors linking Stevens to the Lakers, but he reiterated that he’s “not entertaining” that noise.

Stevens has proven that he can coach at a high level, both at the collegiate and pro level. However, he’s currently working in a front office role.

The Celtics named Ime Udoka their head coach for the 2021-22 season. Stevens had an eight-year run in that position, winning 354 games during that stretch.

On the surface, Stevens would be an intriguing candidate for the Lakers’ head coaching job. That being said, the odds of that pairing becoming a reality are incredibly slim.
