The Atlanta Braves are looking for a series win over the New York Mets in Queens tonight. They’ll have to get it without star Ronald Acuña Jr.
Acuña was scratched from the Braves’ lineup moments ago due to lower back tightness. He had been scheduled to hit leadoff and play right field.
Acuña was only 2-for-12 in the first three games of this four-game series with New York, though he did go 2-for-5 with a home run in the second game of Monday’s doubleheader.
The Braves won that contest and also last night’s meeting. They will look to take three out of four from the first-place Mets tonight.

Acuña has been outstanding this season, slashing .285/.394/.602 with 20 home runs, 16 doubles, 58 runs scored, 45 RBI and 15 steals.
Hopefully, Atlanta is just being cautious with their superstar by sitting him out tonight. It’s not only bad for the Braves if Acuña has to miss time, it’s a blow for baseball in general as well.
