Breaking: Hunter Dickinson Announces NBA Draft Decision

April 24, 2022 by The Spun

Michigan v Tennessee

Hunter Dickinson isn’t going anywhere.

On Sunday, the star center declared his intent to return for his third season. He broke the news with a Twitter post stating, “I ain’t done yet.”

Dickinson’s decision delighted Wolverines head coach Juwan Howard, who enthusiastically responded a minute later.

Per Stadium’s Jeff Goodman, Dickinson said he’s staying in Michigan because he “felt like I wasn’t done with college basketball yet.”

As a sophomore, Dickinson led Michigan in points (18.6), rebounds (8.6), and blocks (1.5) per game. He steered the Big Ten program to a Sweet 16 appearance as a No. 11 seed with 21 points and four blocks in a first-round win over CSU and 27 points and 11 knocks to upset No. 3 Tennessee.

Though he posted 15 points and rebounds apiece in an elimination loss to Villanova, Dickinson expressed displeasure in his performance when asked about his thoughts on declaring for the NBA Draft.

“If I were to come back, yeah, there would definitely be unfinished business,” Dickinson said last month, per Andrew Kahn of MLive. “I haven’t thought about any of that right now. The feelings of me failing my team are the biggest stuff that’s taking up space in my head right now.”

Dickinson’s declaration is huge news for the Wolverines, who went 19-15 in Howard’s third season as head coach.
