Earlier this afternoon, basketball fans learned that star point guard Russell Westbrook was reportedly on the move.
NBA insider Shams Charania revealed the Los Angeles Lakers and Washington Wizards were having trade discussions that would send Westbrook to L.A. The Lakers were reportedly Westbrook’s “preferred destination” if he were to be traded.
Well, it didn’t take long for the two teams to agree to the trade. On Thursday night, Charania revealed the Lakers and Wizards did, in fact, agree to a trade that will send Westbrook to Los Angeles.
The Washington Wizards have agreed to trade Russell Westbrook, 2024 second-round pick, 2028 second-round pick to the Los Angeles Lakers for Kyle Kuzma, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Montrezl Harrell and No. 22 tonight, sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium.

The Wizards receive Kyle Kuzma, Montrezl Harrell and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and the No. 22 pick in tonight’s NBA draft in return.
Fans thought Westbrook might be enough, but Charania reported the Lakers also received two second-round picks in the deal.
Westbrook spent his first 11 NBA seasons with the Oklahoma City Thunder before being traded to the Houston Rockets in 2019. After one year in Houston, the Rockets traded him to Washington.
He’s one of the best players in the league. However, there are questions to whether or not he’ll fit alongside LeBron James and company. Of course, we truly won’t know until they actually step on the floor next season.
Can Westbrook help LeBron and the Lakers to another title?
